How the web works

Webhook

A webhook is an HTTP notification sent to a configured URL when an event happens in another system. Your receiver verifies the sender and handles the event. Delivery can be repeated or delayed, so receiving a notification is not the same as finishing the work.

In a real project

A payment provider notifies your server after a payment event. Your server checks its signature and records which event it handled before carrying out the appropriate account change.

A common mistake

Trusting an unsigned request or granting the same benefit on every delivery. Verify the provider's proof and make repeated delivery safe instead of assuming each notification is new.

Put it into practice

These lessons open through your account. Your kit determines which are available.
