How the web works

Backend

The application logic running in a trusted server environment rather than a visitor's browser. It processes requests, applies business and access rules, and works with data or outside services on the application's behalf.

You might see: server-side application, server logic

In a real project

A booking request reaches the workshop's backend. It checks the visitor's permission and session availability before recording an accepted reservation.

A common mistake

Assuming server code is automatically safe. It still needs input validation, ownership checks and careful handling of private credentials and returned data.
