Secrets
Sensitive values that grant authority or reveal protected information, such as private service keys or signing material. They need controlled access, appropriate storage and a lifecycle that includes rotation and revocation.
You might see: private credentials, secret keys, sensitive credentials
In a real project
The workshop backend uses a private mail-service credential. It stays in the server's managed configuration and is never included in page code or a public repository.
A common mistake
Deleting an exposed key from source and assuming it is safe again. Revoke compromised authority, replace the credential and investigate where it was used.
