Branch
A branch is a named line of development in Git. Its reference advances as you make commits. Branches let you work on a change separately before combining it with another line of development; they do not isolate external services or live databases.
You might see: Git branch, feature branch
In a real project
You develop a search box on a search-box branch while the main branch keeps the current reading list. A preview may run that code, but you still choose which database and service settings it uses.
A common mistake
Treating a branch as a complete sandbox. Branching code does not create separate provider accounts, secrets or data, so check the connected environment before testing.
