Building a project

GitHub

A platform that hosts Git repositories and provides collaboration tools, including issues and pull requests. Git tracks your project's history; GitHub holds a remote copy and helps people review and coordinate changes.

You might see: remote code hosting, GitHub repository hosting

In a real project

You push the workshop site's committed changes to a private GitHub repository. A collaborator reviews a proposed edit in a pull request before it joins the main branch.

A common mistake

Assuming every local file is already backed up on GitHub. Only transferred changes are there; ignored files and outside databases need their own recovery plan.
