Our recommendation
When to choose it
Start with Expo when React and TypeScript are already your working tools. Use a development build when your app needs native features beyond Expo Go.
A good fit for
- A mobile app using JavaScript or TypeScript
- A web developer learning native app boundaries
Choose something else when
Choose Flutter when you deliberately want Dart and its widget-based UI approach.
Watch out for
- Expo Go is a learning playground with a fixed native runtime, not a universal production environment.
- Store release and native credentials are separate from writing the JavaScript app.
How costs work
Framework tooling plus optional hosted EAS plans and usage
Separate local development from hosted builds and updates; store release requirements remain separate.
Check current official terms and pricing ↗This is a pricing model, not a monthly quote. Check your region, intended usage and current plan before buying.
What connects to it
- React Native and native modules
- Local development and EAS services
These are technical connections you can configure. Selecting a card creates no accounts or resources.
